THE DANGER OF SPREADING WRONG INFORMATION ABOUT COVID-19

Corona virus entered the polity with a lot of skepticism and presumptuous conspiracy theory flying all around. These misinformation and disinformation can travel across borders since similar situation is being experienced all over the world. The effect of this is that the gullible people may fall for these false information and start spreading their wrong perspective to the populace. 

The truth is some people still don't believe COVID-19 is real,hence they see no reason why they have to wear a nose mask or observe any of the prescribed safety measures. Top on the list of the conspiracy theory is the claim that  5G is responsible for the massive deaths and not Corona virus. Others say it is a plot by Europe to depopulate Africa. All these are ideas geared towards getting people to neglect the advise and precautions  suggested by health experts.

Nevertheless,the deaths all around the world and even Nigeria has proven that the virus is real, but we can reduce its effect if we do the right thing. Let's observe all the safety measures and make effort to educate people to get them properly informed. Educate then of the need to wear a mask,wash their hands and the use of hand sanitizer. Physical distancing should also be duly observed.

Search For Common Ground Trains Journalists On Conflict Reporting

The need for journalists to examine issues impartially and cover such issues with inclusivity, reflecting on diverse perspectives which will in turn contribute to peace-building and social change was highlighted at a five-day intensive training on Common Ground Journalism for Journalists from Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta States, with the theme ‘A Community Centered Approach to Transforming Criminality and Violence in the Niger Delta” held in Warri, Delta state. In his opening remarks, Search for Common Ground Head of Office/Programme Implementation in the Niger Delta, Mr. Yacinthe Agbagadjan informed that the training was organized in partnership with Stakeholders Democracy Network, Partnership Initiatives in Niger Delta, and Academic Associates Peace Works, funded by the European Union as part of an 18 month project covering sixty-six communities across thirty-three Local Governments Areas of the three states. Architect defiles niece, 5, appears in court

A 34-year-old architect, Abiodun Akinpelu, who allegedly defiled his five-year-old niece, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. Akinpelu, who resides at No. 29, Mayowa St., Orelope in Egbeda, a Lagos suburb, is facing a two-count charge of defilement and indecent assault. The offence, according to the Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, was committed on Sept. 4 at the apartment of the accused. The accused indecently assaulted her by fingering her, Ogu told the court. “He lured the girl into his room, carried her on his laps and started fingering her. “The grandmother, while bathing the girl, discovered that she cries as she washes her private part. “The girl narrated everything that the uncle did to her to her grandmother,” he told the court. The prosecutor said the accused was arrested and handed over to the police. The offences contravened Sections 1375 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
