HYPOCRISY OF THE SOCIETY

The society lives and thrives in utopian illusion of things presumably perfect and in place. A good example is what runs throw the mind of two people coming in opposite direction attempting to cross a narrow path but still end up in collusion. funny isn't it, the truth is the threat was identified but the danger wasn't avoided. 

The word "benefit of doubt" has put so many people in trouble because one always has to be ready for eventualities. However, the society tend to  picture a scenario with an expected outcome before it unfolds. I beg to borrow the word of ASA  from one her song titled "Society" which says "one man's truth is another man's lie". This is indeed a deep statement which tells how twisted truth and lie could mean to different people. lies now parade the society as truth while truth is ashamed because it is either bitter or naked. 

Societal issues are so complex and influenced by our respective background, religion, educational qualification,  ethnicity, social status, financial capability and even experiences to mention a few. This implies reaction to societal issues can be triggered or informed by any of these factors.

Search For Common Ground Trains Journalists On Conflict Reporting

The need for journalists to examine issues impartially and cover such issues with inclusivity, reflecting on diverse perspectives which will in turn contribute to peace-building and social change was highlighted at a five-day intensive training on Common Ground Journalism for Journalists from Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta States, with the theme ‘A Community Centered Approach to Transforming Criminality and Violence in the Niger Delta” held in Warri, Delta state. In his opening remarks, Search for Common Ground Head of Office/Programme Implementation in the Niger Delta, Mr. Yacinthe Agbagadjan informed that the training was organized in partnership with Stakeholders Democracy Network, Partnership Initiatives in Niger Delta, and Academic Associates Peace Works, funded by the European Union as part of an 18 month project covering sixty-six communities across thirty-three Local Governments Areas of the three states. Architect defiles niece, 5, appears in court

A 34-year-old architect, Abiodun Akinpelu, who allegedly defiled his five-year-old niece, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. Akinpelu, who resides at No. 29, Mayowa St., Orelope in Egbeda, a Lagos suburb, is facing a two-count charge of defilement and indecent assault. The offence, according to the Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, was committed on Sept. 4 at the apartment of the accused. The accused indecently assaulted her by fingering her, Ogu told the court. “He lured the girl into his room, carried her on his laps and started fingering her. “The grandmother, while bathing the girl, discovered that she cries as she washes her private part. “The girl narrated everything that the uncle did to her to her grandmother,” he told the court. The prosecutor said the accused was arrested and handed over to the police. The offences contravened Sections 1375 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
