Tottenham seal £23m deal for PSG full-back Serge Aurier..

Serge Aurier has completed his £23m (€25m) move from Paris Saint‑Germain to Tottenham Hotspur. Mauricio Pochettino wanted a new right-back after he sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50m and in Aurier he will get a dynamic, if controversial, figure. “This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive football club and I am determined to prove myself,” Aurier told Spurs’ official website. “This is a fresh start for me. Aurier, a 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, was given a suspended two-month jail sentence last year for an assault on a police officer outside a nightclub in Paris. However he protested his innocence and appealed. The conviction had prevented him from entering the United Kingdom last November when PSG played Arsenal in the Champions League and it stood to derail his proposed move to Tottenham. Under Home Office rules, a person with a prison sentence cannot be granted a UK work visa for another five years. But the French courts downgraded Aurier’s “co

Sallah: Kuje residents demand more commercial banks..

Residents of Kuje Area Council, FCT, on Thursday called for the establishment of more commercial banks to reduce the difficulty faced by customers, especially at month end. The residents made the call in separate interviews in Kuje on Thursday. They said that the fewness of banks with their limited number of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) had become worrisome. Long queues are often witnessed at First Bank of Nigeria Plc, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Sky Bank Plc, the only banks in the area. A customer to the FCMB, Mr. Sani Balla, expressed frustration at the bank’s failure to satisfy the quest of its customers queuing up for long hours. Balla said he had been on the queue at the FCMB for several hours and when it was his turn to withdraw money, the machine stopped dispensing. A Skye Bank customer, Mrs. Salamatu Dogo, said she had been waiting in the queue for more than three hours and had yet to withdraw some money to shop for Sallah. “The bank management is awa

RELATIONSHIPS LIKE SAND HELD IN HAND..

“Relationships-of all kinds-are like sand held in your hand. Held loosely, with an open hand, the sand remains where it is. The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost.” — Kaleel Jamison

THE TIED MIND...

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.” The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were. Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it on

Global access to health ‘more a political than economic challenge’ – WHO

He replaced Margaret Chan as WHO boss after beating two other contenders in an election in May this year. In its statement on UHC at the ongoing meeting, international pharmaceutical reserch group, IFPMA (the international Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations), commended

THE PAST.... YOUR PAST.

The past is that dark room holding some people back from seeing the light. It distracts them and  always pull them back when ever they are set to move forward.  It could be a terrible experience of failure or a lifestyle you feel will haunt you for the rest of your life. It causes anxiety, stagnation, doubt and lost of self confidence. Sadly so many people are entangled in this sorry state.  The historians call it an objective past.  Which meant an event occurred but beyond what happened and how it happened, we were meant to learn from them so as to avoid a reoccurrence. It is good to learn from other people's experience but if fate wills we learn from ours it shouldn't make us weaker but stronger. Let's liken our past to be an unfamiliar path we had been through before.  After the first experience, going through that path again will be much easier compared to the first time.   Let go of the past and embrace the future. Never you allow your past stand inbetween your f

UN extends AU-led mission in Somalia..

The UN Security Council has extended its authorization of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) until May 31, 2018. The 15-member body also approved a reduction of its uniformed personnel to a maximum 21,626 by Dec. 31, 2017, with an eye towards the gradual handover over of responsibilities to Somali security forces. Unanimously adopting a new resolution, the Council decided that the downsizing – the first ever for the African-led operation – would include a minimum of 1,040 AMISOM police personnel and five Formed Police Units. A further reduction, from the current maximum of 22,126, to 20,626 uniformed personnel by Oct. 30, 2018 would follow, unless the Council decides to accelerate that pace, taking into account the capabilities of Somali security forces. The Security Council emphasized that the long-term objective for Somalia, with international support, was for the Somali Security Forces to assume full responsibility for security, with AMISOM remaining critical during t

Are you pooping all wrong?

When it comes to our bowels —  and  their movements — we may not give them much thought. Of course, when things are not going well, we notice. However, bowel movements don’t just tell us about the health of our digestive system. This may sound strange, but signs of everything from diseases to stress may show up in your  bathroom  habits. The key is knowing what to look for — and what the  signs  may mean. Here are five tips to encourage healthy bowels: 1. Don’t ignore rectal bleeding The first thing most people worry about when they have minor  rectal bleeding  is that they have a cancer. Of course,  colon cancer  is also a concern. But it’s the cause of rectal bleeding only 1 to 2 percent of the time. Two problems are usually responsible for blood on the paper, on the stool or in the toilet:  hemorrhoids  and  anal fissures . The good news is that both problems are usually easy to fix.  2. Be careful not to be overzealous when you wipe A lot of people assume they hav

He also added that his client would plead guilty to “some or all of the offences.” Following these revelations, the court hearings were adjourned so that the Crown Prosecution Service c

STANDING IN LOVE..

standing in love is that state of mind you find yourself when you have been heart broken before and find it difficult to love again. You are always on the defensive trying to shield your heart.  The scary thing about being in love is that you sometimes lose your sense of reasoning and giving it up for trust and believe in the other party.  That is why they say someone in love is very difficult to advise.   However, when the heart is broken the person goes back into his/her shell. Holding back the the trust because it has been betrayed before.  The person starts standing in love with his/her head and not the heart.  Everything little gesture is subjected to critical reasoning. They are always on guard protecting their fragile heart. The person on the other side could get frustrated because such people are mostly withdrawn. They can sweet and loving sometimes but other times they are back into their shells. Healing process takes time. All the other party needs to do is reassure them

Love is giving...

Love is all about giving.  You cannot give what you don't have.  It doesn't necessarily have to do with material things or financial benefits.  There are other things you can give aside that. Your time, your shoulder to lean on, your ears to listen. We often ignore the little basics and assume material things can sustain love. Where material things fail only those little gesture goes a long way. However, love should be a two way traffic. As you are giving, you should take also.  Anyone constantly giving love without taking will end up emotionally drained and exhausted. Because as you give and empty your self,  someone should also fill that empty space your giving creates. Never settle for less.  You know deep down inside you when you are not taking or receiving what you give.  If you find yourself self in such situation politely withdraw because you are on your way to depression..... Love and be loved.

Psychological Facts...

You may lose people you love. You may lose the things you have. But whatever happens, never lose yourself. Some people are like clouds - when they go away, the day gets brighter. Psychology says, you're not afraid to love, you're afraid of not being loved back. Via... facts books
